Chopped onions
A little cooking oil
Seasoning
Hot water
Lentils (Your choice but I use red and sometimes green –If green pre-boil them)
Tomato puree
Lemon juice (to give it zingy taste at the end)

Method

If you use Green Lentils boil them in cold water until soft, drain

Next

In a medium/large pot heat a bit of oil.
Place in the chopped onions and fry to soften
Add in a tomato puree and stir in a bit.
Add both lentils and fill the to the top with the hot water
Add in seasoning and bring it to boil on high heat
Later let the heat get to simmer stage on the lowest you can get cover pot with lid until it cooks

The whole thing takes about 30minutes

You can also add in any other vegetables that you wish.

Once soup is cooked, you can have it along with chunks of fresh bread and to give it a zing add in freshly squeezed lemon juice
